Junior League of Boston’s 2006 Decorators’ Show House

The reviews are in. The Boston Globe and NECN agree: Patricia Finn’s Show House entry was something special.

Twenty-eight top Boston area designers were asked to work their magic on the Richard Henry Dana Jr. House near Harvard Square for the Junior League of Boston's 34th Annual Decorators' Show House. Built in 1851 and owned by the Episcopal Divinity School, the house was impressive in history and structure but sorely lacking in interior design.

Finn-Martens Design was chosen to take on a first-floor powder room that presented issues of space as well as an unappealing look. We succeeded in making it both beautiful and functional.

Globe critic Linda Matchan hailed Pat Finn's work as a "welcome exception" to the conservative work of other Show House designers work that was "not bold, contemporary, or heaven forbid, avant garde." But, the critic said, "Patricia Finn injected flare into a bathroom with a set of striking, unexpected Shoji sliding screens installed next to the toilet.

Pat Finn also was featured on New England Cable News' coverage of the show house on its "New England Dream House" program. Among the 28 spaces decorated for the Show House, the “Downstairs Bath and Hall” was one of only ten that were featured on the program. What’s more, the Japanese-style screens Pat designed were named #2 of the Top 10 Design Elements of the entire show.
